We have entered the new year and once again it is time to make big plans for the year. Our biggest goal for the year is to complete recording our second album "Good Morning Midnight" in 2013. Now that we have a great website up and running we can focus on building momentum towards the goal.
We have already booked a recording slot with Mark Troyer in May to record two more songs. At the moment we are working on determining which two songs will make the final cut. We have gone through all of our available material and broken up the songs into A, B and C ratings. Songs with an A rating are the top songs that we are finalizing for the album. The B rated are songs that still need some work to make the cut, and maybe considered for use later down the road once they mature. The C rated songs are getting recycled into new songs later down the road. Some of the C rated riffs are excellent but the songs lack context as a completed piece of music.
So the good news is we have written enough A rated songs that all the material we plan to place on our 10 song release "Good Morning Midnight" is completed. So far we have recorded 4/10 songs and only have six more to go. The approximate cost of each song to record is about $850/song for a total recording cost of $5,100 plus an additional 1,200 for album artwork and pressing. In total we would require about $6,300 to complete our newest 10 song record in 2013.
The only unfortunate issue is we have too many songs. And that leads US to the question: can we find the money to release a 12 song album in 2013? (an additional $1,700) So now we will be making our case to both provincial and nations grant programs in an effort to get the funding we require to complete our ambitious tasks in 2013 wish US luck.
